OVERCOME ADVERSITY AND EXCEL!
“Dave, THANK YOU a billion!!!! I truly can not thank you enough for everything you did for me this summer. I really don’t even think I would have a chance at senior season if it wasn’t for you, your amazing knowledge, and your unmatched skill at what you do. You have been such a blessing” – Sarah Price
HARD WORK AND BKE – A WINNING COMBINATION
“Thank you Dave for helping me get through the Crossfit 2017 Open. I’m pretty sure my body would have crumbled if it weren’t for you. BKE is awesome stuff! Thanks so much!” -Nicole N
THE RIGHT KEY UNLOCKS THE DOOR TO SUCCESS
It’s Good to Be #1
Congratulations to BKE athlete Brooke Siter on using her new hip extension strength in the Kristie Phillips Cup in Charlotte, NC to help stick her landings on floor for the first time, winning the floor event, qualifying for USAG Elite, and being invited to the Olympic training center to work with the national team. Way to go Brooke!
ASSESSING SUPINATION
Have the athlete stand and reach with one leg out to the side, keeping the foot just off the ground. You may allow the athlete to gently tap their foot at the end reach, however, don’t allow her to distribute any weight onto the foot.
ALIGN YOUR ATLAS, UNLEASH YOUR POWER
Notice the difference in this athlete’s neck before and after a BKE Integration session. In the before, you can see a flatness to the neck. In the after, it has a nice curvature to it, or lordosis. His first cervical vertebrae, the atlas, was misaligned by being protracted, or forward.
THINK ROTATION
A lot of standard training takes place in the sagittal plane. However, when we move in sports, and even in regular gait, we are relying heavily on rotational movement.
Check out how we were able to improve this athlete’s foot and ankle rotation in one session! The small pics are of the push-off phase in gait, before and after.
LOWER BACK – SHOCK ABSORBER
The hips and lumbar spine should act as a shock absorber when landing from jumping, running, and even walking. In the before video, you can see her pelvis tilts to the left upon landing, creating intense and damaging forces on the disks of the lower back…
THE SHOULDER IS NOT THE PROBLEM
If you workout, lift weights, or play sports, you most likely have experienced shoulder pain at some point.
CHINESE SKIN SCRAPING
Gua Sha is the same thing as Graston, was who copied the concept, repackaged it, and marketed it. But anyone can do it and you don’t need an expensive tool…
PRONATION EQUALS POWER
In order for the hip to achieve its potential power, it needs to be loaded in all three planes of movement…
